I wouldn't want anyone to think it was all work, work, work here- I've still had time to beach it. At the weekend, I trekked west along the coast with 4 other volunteers to the idyllic Kokrobite beach, where we all crammed into a twin bedroom. It's a proper palm trees and white sands kind of place, and after a day on the beach we sipped cocktails in the beach bar, where a live band were performing.

When the music descended into 'Highlife' (I've yet to aquire a taste for this Ghanaian trend), we went back onto the moonlit beach, where a local named Gabriel told traditional Ashanti stories. Less traditional, he also gave us a rendition of his improvised rap music, which would never have stopped if we hadn't interrupted with applause.

The night was surprisingly comfortable, and there was time for a morning swim in the ocean before breakfast. The rest of sunday I managed to use constructively by developing my tan, and my skin doesn't scream 'new arrival' anymore.

The weekend was actually my last in Accra, as I'm off travelling this weekend for about two weeks. Amy and I have got a rough loop planned out, first heading north to Kumasi then further north still, before heading back East of Lake Volta. I'm then moving to a new placement at Cape Coast for just three weeks before I head back to England- where's the time going?!
