Pune, India -first weeks of shooting

So, I'm cheating slightly. I"m backdating.
I arrived here in Pune around Oct 26th and started shooting the next day. We shot most of the movie in a private house in an area called the Sindh Colony.
Stayed at the Taj Blue Diamond in Pune.
Pune is a fairly large and rapidly growing city about 3-4 hours from Bombay. Not a whole lot of interesting cultural stuff to see. There is an ashram here that is quite famous/notorious - I can't even remember the name but everyone seems to have heard of it. You have to have and AIDS test to get in and you wear long crimson robes and you pay for your room and board AND you have to work for the commune for free. Hmmmmmmmm. I didn't see anyone attending who I was dying to talk to. They intersected with us at a place called the German Bakery which was a ramshackle hut that served granola and cappuccino. The best part about the German Bakery was the Ayurvedic massage center on the 4th floor above it. For Rps 700 ($15.00) you could have an hour massage. For Rps 900 ($19.00) you get an hour and a half. I went 4 times. Pretty amazing.
Pune does have some interesting stuff and one day I found an old Jewish cemetery.
It was all grown over but quite beautiful.
There aren't that many cemeteries around as Hindus cremate their dead.
I also went to a temple site on a hill
outside the city which was quite beautiful. There were about 4 temples on the site. A man from northern India insisted on me taking a picture with him, then with him mother, then with his wife, then with him mother and him and his wife, then........
I also went to an old Mughal palace
that dates from about the 16th century.
A very beautiful, peaceful spot with gardens at the center.
