That is no Country for Old Men
These are the opneing lines of one of my favorite Yeats poems. The relevant section comes later when the poet says:
And so I have sailed the seven seas and comeTo the holy City of Byzantium.
Mind-blowing to be here. Not becuase it's fantastic (which it is) but because this is one of those mythic plasces in the world and to be here is an achievement of sorts.

Like the first time you got to Paris. You keep saying to yourself, "Oh My God, I"m in Paris. Paris, France." Well, Hugo said it yesterday, "We're in Istanbul".

Hi bros!!!!
So glad you two made it to Turkey. I was hoping you would blog again. In fact, I plan to have my High School students follow your travels (don't worry I will read them before they will!!!) Have a great time and keep the wonderful, creative, and descriptive blogs coming. We all feel like we are traveling with you! My love, PAM
I was just there!
Hey guys -- I was there in Istanbul just a couple of weeks ago, and from there did a tour of Classical Turkey with the Archaeological Institute of America, led by the man who's been excavating at Troy for 18 years! Fabulous. I had a Turkish bath at one of the oldest hammams, Cemberlitas (sp). Of course you will see Tokapi (and I hope see the Archaeological Museum in the Topkapi grounds), and the cistern and Hagia Sophia, and some beautiful mosques -- and the Bazaar, and spice bazaar. So much. Boat on the Bosphorus. Enjoy!!!!!
Love, Dana

You're At it again and a short story
Hi Denis and Hugo, Good for you two...at it again. The pictures are wonderful and the story line even better.
Enjoy, love from Cousin Judy
Short story you might enjoy: One of our 'playful sorts'on the south side of Chicago saw a long line of black cars and decided to run between them for fun, maybe they wanted their windshields washed??? The poor guy was immediately stopped by a couple of men who were 'really big and had guns', so says the guy. Morale of story...until January 20th, leave all long lines of black cars alone in Chicago! J
