7 1/2 hours on a bus - tiring but well worth it!

Spent 7 1/2 hours on the bus today, getting from Puno to Cusco today. All in all, a very nice ride. If you're thinking "chicken bus", ie., where your neighbour is holding live chickens on their lap, you're very far from the truth.
This was a Greyhound-like bus -- a bit tight for space, but reasonably comfortable. We were even served lemon cake and Coca Cola, and watched "Pursuit of Happyness" on the central TV screen. Not bad!
The roads were, for the most part, pretty good. A bit bumpy in some places, and certainly "curvy", but it was a fun ride, with AMAZING scenery all around. I hope to post some pictures tomorrow.
We got to Cusco late this afternoon. What a great place! It is clearly geared for tourists, and consequently, prices are a bit higher, but it's really pretty, and very lively. I'm quite happy that I'll be spending almost 4 days here next week.
Tomorrow, we head to Ollantaytambo, visiting a number of places along the way, and then, on Saturday, we start the big trek!!! The Inca Trail! We just had our briefing, and it sounds awesome. It won't be easy, but it's well within the norms of other treks I've done, and it seems very very well organized. Part of our group is doing the Lares Valley trek, and we're all reuniting at sunrise at Machu Picchu next Tuesday -- should be a great reunion!

H-Hope you're doing well. Really terrific scenery and the trip sounds positively awesome!. Have a great time off and enjoy it immensely. Well deserved!
