Today I 'm going to the UK to pick up the newly restored Bristol 400 which I had Purchased last year.
I booked an Commercial Flight on Delta out of Daytona to Heathrow .
Quite an Difference to my SX Flying where I do not miss the Stripsearch and unfriendly TSA service.
The Flight left Daytona on Time and soon we touched down in ATL for an smooth arrival.
30 minutes before boarding time on DL 46 , Atlanta went into lockdown and we where all herded into oposite corners on Terminal E.
The overzealous and parannoid TSA personal had some problems with Customs and Immigration one level below.
This whole spectakel is so redicolous where the overreacting TSA inconvinience tausend of travelers for nothing.
Airtravel like any other mode of Transportation can never be 100% safe , contrary what the Goverment is telling you , one has to get some perpective here.
On USA roads every year about 36000 people get killed thats an average 100 a day or every 16 minutes a fatality!!
and what is being done about it ... nothing , it should start with a better and more rigerous Driver Education .
But on Airports somebody can lift up an receiver and call security about an Bag left unattended for 1 minute and hell brakes loose......... where is the comon sense here?
Finally after one hour delay they left us board and thanks to an good Tailwind we landed almost on time in Heathrow where the UK Custom & Immigration was on Strike and slow moving true the process was the Order of the Day ,nevertheless I went true in about 45 minutes.
Took the Tube to Paddington Station and then the Train to Swindon, a Town halfway between London and Bristol
famos for an eleborate Master roundabout with four counter rotating smaller roundabouts within....6 mayor Highways joining with no Traffic Lights , no accidents and it works quit well.
Andrew the Broker picked me up at the Station with the Pristine newly restored 400 and we went to Spencer Lane Jones .Ltd .which had overhauled the Engine after John Sangster restored the Car to concour condition.
In typical Rainy London weather I left a couple hours later only to return , having lost one of the Windshield wipers.....the Mechanic found an 1948 orginal replacement and soon I wa on my way.
Stopped in Stonehenge to visit the ancient Stonecircle which evolved 3000 years BC.
The huge sarsen and Bluestones formation are perfectly lined up in an Circle.
The Stone circle is aligned midsommer sunrise and midwinter sunset and remains to this day a mystery....
Quit interesting.......
Driving true the English Countryside in Raining Condition ,got tired after 90 miles Driving on the wrong side of the Road and checked on a Roadsite Inn for the Night....
