After I got settled in, I figured today was going to be Tiger Temple day. The guy at the desk hooked me up with a taxi that charged me 2/3rds the price of what that old lady was going to charge to go to the temple. I read that people could lie on the large tigers like a house dog. I'll let the pictures and videos tell you what I experienced. It was a little intimidating. Even though they were born there, remember Sig Fred and Roy and what happened
After I got back to the guesthouse, I decided to wonder around Chiang Mai. Not much to the city. I saw a few temples here and there. There was a river boat tour I could have experienced, but I didn't read about it until the day I left. Darn. Well, I walked into a small market in the West part of the city, but veered towards the back of it, where I saw a friendly game of soccer/badminton being playing in a courtyard. They weren't too good so I lost interest quickly. Seemed like a interested game though. My boredom led to a green tea frappuccino across the street, waiting for a place to open up for dinner at 7pm. I went to a vegetarian Thai buffet at the GAP guesthouse on a recommendation from some other tourists. It was situated in a jungle-like setting and what looked to be a tree house. I liked the surrounding, but it was a perfect environment for mosquitoes. Food was great and went well with a bottle of Leo beer. I forgot to mention that Chiang and Leo were their domestic beers. Singha and Heineken were their premium imports
I needed to do some shopping so I went to the night market, but I had to walk through Loi Khor Rd to get there. Not too disappointed. Kind of fun having girls yeah at you to come over while you walk. Loi Khor Road was the red light district in the area with go go bar galour.
I was able to buy all my gifts at one stand and the lady gave me a good deal since I bought so many items. It was about 10pm and I felt like going to a club for my last night in Thailand. I got showered and researched the best place in town and when I got there, it was dead. I was so disappointed. Chiang Mai is not like the other cities where its happening everyday of the week. Only on the weekends. I learned this from a local bar I went to called Ba Ba Bo Bo as I was heading home. But I ended up staying at that bar and, after the bar closed, the employees took me to a club called Lucky around 3 in the morning. We brought our own bottle of Jack Daniel and only had to pay for the mixers. I got to know one of the girls better named Maew. She was very nice and friendly and refreshing to know she wasn't for hire. The night went on and we went to another bar that was only open to Thai people, but I got in. Everyone was singing Thai songs and drinking. I knew if I didn't go home, it was about 6am, I wasn't going to be able to find my place. My Thai friend, Tao, shoved me in the tuk tuk and off I went. What a blast.
