Before talking about this place, ive got to mention that for 4 days in Cuzco and Machu Pichu I had some sort of stomarch upset, for a while amoebic dysentary was a plausible explanation, and i was feeling pretty rough. I lost about a stone, so even now my trousers keep falling down!
I didnt have the time, money or energy to do the proper Inca Trail, or any bloody trail for that matter, so I went for the option to take the train to the town of Aguas Callientes (literally hot waters), and a short bus ride from there. I met yet more dutch guys to travel there with, but i dont think they were too impressed when i kept runnig off to the toilets every 20 minutes.
The place itself was pretty amazing, but obviously spoilt a bit by my inability to walk for more than 10 steps without having to sit down. So what I ended up doing was finding a nice patch of grass on a terrace and sleeping in the sun for a few hours, and then slowly wandering around the interesting parts of the city. Really beautiful place, pretty awesome to behold, but I suppose the `wow factor` was beginning to fade with all the great things i see almost every day. Got a train back and might be featured in a brazilian travel documentary, as they were filming and interviewing, so keep your eyes open for my TV debut!
