Where I stayed
Raintree Lodge

After staying at the Raintree Lodge in Fiji and throwing some unidentified creepy crawly off my neck in the middle of the night, I decided to move on.  I hopped aboard a plane and landed in the Kingdom of Tonga (as it proclaims in big gold letters at the "international" airport).  I went to the bustling capital of Nuku'alofa and proceeded to the poshest hotel there.  It was a whopping $52 a night and was located in the middle of the 3 block radius which was the city center.  At least it had air con and for that I was grateful!  The city wasn't too happening so I decided to go to the Vava'u Islands.  The domestic airline is a handful of 1940's era silver airplanes and the runway a grassy field.  I am sooo not kidding. It was awesome!  We took off and were withing moments gazing down at the beautiful Pacific seeing deserted islands ringed with coral.  They looked like mossy rocks in  big blue puddle as they had whire sandy beaches but lush green interiors.   When I got to Vava'u it was a bit of a let down as the
place I booked wasn't on the water.  So I found a cool place the Conde Nast Traveller loooves called Mounu
Resort.  It's pricey as hell but I am assured it's on a brilliant beach!  There will be no phone or e-mail on the island so unless you want a message in a bottle, don't expect a reply!  I'm definitely coming home on the 31st.  I am brown as a nut and as crazy as one too (I knew you were gonna say that mom...).  I send everyone lots of love and I look forward to making you jealous with my tan and my photos!
love,
tin tin
