It's hard to believe just how quickly this time has come - but in only a few days, I will be boarding a plane headed south to Oaxaca, Mexico! I'm very much looking forward to this adventure, but I'm a bit overwhelmed by the many travel preparations that still need to be done (i.e. PACKING!).

The past few weeks (and months, actually) have been a complete whirlwind, and I thought that this would be a great way to (re)connect with you all! Please continue to stay tuned for more program details, stories, and of course... pictures! Most importantly, I would love to hear from you while I’m gone.  There is a way in which you can post comments here on the blog, but if you prefer a more private method, I will have access to my personal email also.

It’s hard to believe that four years have passed since I left for Ecuador.  During that time, I found that blogging was a great way to stay in touch with everyone back home.  It also turned out to be a living journal; a mechanism that forced me to reflect upon my experiences there.  Although this trip will be much shorter, I still want to bring you along for the ride.  I hope you'll join me :-)

¡Hasta luego, amigos!

Mom (who misses her daugher) on

You would think that because you live in Washington, D.C. that this would be nothing for me...hmmmm...think again. There is something about you (and your brother) being out of the country that causes me heart palpitations. :) Honestly, I'm excited for this adventure/learning experience for you, and I will most definitely be your most loyal bloggie (next to Aunt Janie of course). I love your writing and story telling. I can wait to let the fun begin! Bring it on, baby girl!!! Safe travels! xoxoxoxoxo

Paz Ashley.

Well I am filled with anticipation as I look forward to reading your blogs. I agree with your mom, you have a gift for story telling which allows us all to be right there with you.

Again, I cannot say how pleased I am to see someone living out there dreams, the fearlessness, the drive, and the resourcefulness required to accomplish such feats will create a wizened, experienced, and capable woman able to leap small buildings and stop speeding trains....well maybe not all that but at least you'll be in a great position to be Senate Majority Leader; or Secretary of State someday (you don't want to be president...presidents don't have enough power:) ). For real though continue living out loud, and when you have the chance...Dance.

I think Garth Brooks has you in mind when he sings that song "The River". You're gonna be a big Cahuna one day, and you'll accomplish it on your own terms. I'll be glad to say I know you.

Y las zapatas barratas no es por ti, estan fea. Entonces solomente pone las zapatas hermosas que los hombres en el bus le gustan.:)

Have fun.
