Into the wilderness we went! We drove from Rock Spings to Pinedale to Jackson Hole. Spent 3-4 hours tooling through the Grand Tetons, which are really impressive up close. If you get a chance, pay the park fee and take the closer in road, not the outer road.

Then we spent parts of 3 days and 2 nights in Yellowstone. Our campsite had evidence of recent bear activity, including tracks, droppings, and claw marks on trees. Sure enough, at the end of the 2nd day as we were driving back toward our campsite, we saw the momma grizzly and her 2 cubs. Also saw elk, mule deer, otters, bison, black bears, and even a wolf up close! I haven't seen that much wildlife since seeing cousin Joe tear down JoJo's chicken parm with his bare hands!

What was supposed to be an off day of driving turned into a 100+ mile round of the Yellowstone outer loops. Windy roads but absolutely beautiful. The kids were impressed by the geysers of course, and a little bit scared- except Krystian, who thought it was time to go swimming in the hot tubs!

Despite the sights, I think the boys were more excited about pillow fights and bounce-boxing inside the tents on the blow-up mattresses!

Bear droppings?
Kevin - are you sure the claw marks, missing food, and droppings weren't from one of your 'midnight runs' to the cooler?? I'm suspicious...too much evidence. :>)
