Forgot to talk about an incident yesterday. In the hotel, where I'd got the lift down to the car park to get my case. When I reached the lobby on the way back up, the lift stopped and a guy got in. He cancelled my 11th floor request thinking I was checking in, and then brazenly presses basement saying, it's only one floor!! No apology offered. Ying and Yang kicked in though, when he got out at basement he tripped on a ledge and hit the opposite wall.......
Anyway, I got the metro in with the intention of seeing Lincoln and then the Native American Indian museum.. Headed to the memorial at 7:50 and it was mobbed
Apparently this Saturday is the Cherry Blossom parade, a bit like Groundhog Day, celebrating spring!!
Did the Lincoln bit and headed to the museum. Shock, the museum didn't open till 11 and my flight was at two. Decided to miss this ( only on the basis that I'll do it one day soon, it's three floors!,!)
Was heading back to the metro and discovered all the marching bands practising in a park nearby. Very very impressive indeed with High Schools from all over America, eg Oklahoma, California, Washington state.......
Very entertaining and quite inspiring really.
Caught the train back for a well earned breakfast. After walking more than 5 miles ( pretty good for me) before breakfast thought I deserved a treat.
I've really enjoyed this part of the trip and am looking forward to Civil War part two plus Civil Rights.......
As Johnny Cash said, "am goin on down to Jackson''
PS. Craig, they have loads of museums here and all look very interesting...
