After Amir went back to the US, Cisco and I headed back to Jerusalem. We took a tour to Masada and the Dead Sea, but we were only were able to glimpse Jericho. I tried to finance my trip by joining the game and selling holy relics. On hand: slivers of the True Cross (procured from an adjacent park bench), and pieces of the Shroud of Turin (in actuality, my towel from the hostel, which quite possibly was from the time of Christ). Brisk sales on those items. Less successful objects: Mohammed's elementary grammar book (as he was only semi-literate), and shreds of Moses' foreskin.
Currently, I'm in Tel Aviv waiting for my Indian visa. Get this, India only does visas through travel agencies, as they don't have the organizational capacity for the current demand. So, I drop my passport off at a third party office, who does some paperwork and then takes it to the Indian embassy. They stamp it (in this case it took over two weeks) and bring it back to the travel agency. Maybe the embassy could handle the workload if half of their citizenry weren't gainfully employed answering American customer service phone calls. I need to get that visa, get to Cairo and see those pyramid dealies, then fly to Mumbai on Monday. Oh yeah, and somehow figure out how to vote in the election.
