Seriously, if the best things in life are free, then it logically follows that the pretty good things in life should be relatively inexpensive as well.  But that does not seem to be the case.  When asked where I'm from, I never hesitate to say "America," and have never received any backlash from that.  However, touts and vendors definitely raise their prices after that response.

Anyways, my point is that I'm spending quite a bit more than I thought.  Mostly from transportation, but that's almost unavoidable.  I looked into buying a camel, but they're fairly uncomfortable, expensive, and their scheduled departures are more undependable than the Egyptian buses.

So I have a new plan to bring my budget back into line.  Basically, I must live on $1 a day for the next 45 days.  I'll walk everywhere, buy one water a day, and eat locusts and wild honey, which, coupled with the desert heat, could also lead to a new career in prophecy.

Next update: hark, a man from the desert speaketh vague and slightly incoherent words.  Considerable following immediately develops.
