Driving through Montana range lands that seem endless. Perfect for cattle, horses and fields of grass crops. Some fields looked like a quilt of yellow, browns, greens and even pink. Unsure of the pink crop but will find out! Stopped in the malt barley capital of Fairfield and enjoyed an icecream cone to cool down as temps in the mid 80's. The vista conjours up scenes of cowboys and buffalo with the mesas on the horizons and clear starry skies. Today we enjoyed our first encounter with antelope so we know we are on the range where the deer & antelope play! Stanford, a tiny town offers a fantastic free historical museum and the forest ranger has provided us with information on BLM land and dirt roads that we are about to embark on.

Mom & Pa on

Only rattler we ever saw was dead-killed by our river guide-and we ate him for supper, the snake not the guide. Trying to follow you on our maps but not all little towns listed. Go slow and enjoy.Love you both.

Patricia - again on

I wonder if the pink is echinaecia (forget the spelling, it's a lost cause tonight!)
Glad to know you're still thinking like a quilter. Keep having fun, you guys. What stories you'll have to tell the grandkids and great grandkids in years to come.
