I am really proud of my peers today.

It was so unlike what happened with the first group of kids I came with...we were heading down to the Creekside, which turned out to be an unintended adventure, but that's another story.  In the taxi, we got into the subject of American college students and drinking.  The conversation went like this:

"You know, we have to be really careful about not doing dumb stuff.  A lot of people have a bad image of us, and maybe have never interacted with other Americans.  We're representatives of our culture, you know?"

"Yeah, when I signed up for Dubai, I didn't think heavy drinking would be in the job description."

"I didn't really come here to party, I came here to study Arabic."

I thought, am I really HEARING this??  I said, You guys are so responsible

They aren't nerds or dorks, either.  Just regular college students.  They couldn't believe some of the stories I told them about last time.  That certainly sucked all the poison out.  Today, I'm happy to know such intelligent people who don't make me cringe when telling others my nationalty.  Thanks guys!  You rock!!
