Well, I have been doing something fun for the past few days or so.

My art teacher Julia gave me a ring and asked if I would like to help her paint a map on the floor...she told me this when I was still racked with a fever, but I told her I'd start the next day. 

I did.  I don't recommend that if you're recovering from Salmonella, because it really knocks you for a loop.  But because I was no longer feverish I was able to delude myself into thinking I was "OK".  And I sat down on that floor and painted that map.

Then I came back and did that the next day, and the next day, and the next day; each time cursing my bacteria-ridden body for leaving me pooped, in every sense of the word.  The security guards got so used to seeing me run in and out of the building to use the toilet that they started asking me questions.

I need to explain about the security guards.  We were working in the DIFC--Dubai Investment and Financial Center.  A friend of Julia's has this other friend who is opening a new Latino restaurant, and would like lots of artwork inside of it.  One such piece of art is a map of Latin America on the floor underneath plexiglass--and thus we have been spending our days locked into 12-hour shifts of painstaking labor trying to get this map done before the restaurant opens.

Anyway, when it is all done, I'm going to post pictures of our work (the pictures are on Julia's camera); and I invite you all to come out to this restaurant and take a look at my mark on Dubai for yourself!  Just tell Ahmad I sent you!
