Thursday Night in the dorms doesn't have to be boring, as I discovered for the first time last night. Usually I just sit around feeling bored, and sorry for myself that I have no friends, and anyway even if I did, they would bore and aggrivate me on Thursday Nights anyway...but last night I got so bored that I started walking around the dorms and discovered three girls cooking in the kitchen.
They said, "We're making cookies! Come join us!" And so I did.
And you'd be surprised how many hilarious memories could result from four girls with no lives who don't know how to cook trying to make cookies at 2 am.
We cooked food:
We crushed ourselves between the fridges:
We made this happy cookie:
I went to the Dubai Museum, which I went to when I first came, but have been meaning to come back to. It's great! They have all these creepy figurines of bedouins singing round a campfire and such; and it's all underground, and much cooler than outdoors. I wanted to come back because the first time I went I didn't have a functioning digital camera. Now I have one on my phone, but it's too low quality to take pictures in the dark. Stupid Nokia! So, no pictures of creepy figurines. Here are the ones I did get:
Dubai Museum: This is only a model:
Bird's eye view of the creek. But really. Use a map:
This is a model of pearl divers on the underside of a boat: (I know. You can't tell.)
It was nice to go to the mall and shove a lot of ice cream down my sunburned throat, too!
Hooray for being alone on Fridays!

See??
It's so creepy!
Fridays don't have to be dull either, even when everything else is closed and the bus system is temporarily shut down leaving you helplessly stranded in the shadeless sun. I went down to the Creek (if you want to know, check a map), and took pictures of this desert garden...these folks are very good at landscaping, but they sure don't know how to plant a cactus garden. Here's a start--don't plant the cactuses in rows and columns as if they were rose bushes! Other than that, I certainly loved the desert garden. It reminded me of Phoenix.Desert Garden
