In keeping with Dubai's trends, there are a lot of skyscrapers being built around campus as we speak. It's funny when you drive up to campus, because you're looking at all of these tall buildings, and suddenly you realize the University is right there in their midst, dwarfed by their height.
The construction noises seem to bother a lot of people who are new here. Speaking for myself, I hardly notice it. After attending the University of Cincinnati for almost five years, I have become quite accustomed to constant pounding, hammering, and dismantling. However, there is one difference between the construction there and here. You see, here in Dubai they call it construction because they are actually constructing things. In Cincinnati, a more appropriate word would be destruction--destruction, what's more, with a budget that the University can't even afford.
