Sorry for not posting more here, you guys...but I've kind of run out of happy and exciting stories.  Unless you want to hear about being homeless, or about my screaming match with a drunken Saudi, a 70 dirham taxi-ride and other self-pitying stories, then I'm afraid I have little to post.

One interesting thing did happen here--there was a massive explosion yesterday of an illegal fireworks warehouse, not unlike the illegal meth labs that blow up in Cincinnati.  Here is the story:

I saw the aftermath of it myself.

That's the funny thing about this place...first, Dubai gets the worst rainstorm in history, which destroyed the map we painted on the floor of my restaurant.  Then there is the worst traffic accident in the history of the world which involved a 200+ car pileup.  Now we get a massive explosion??  What's happening to this place?  Is someone trying to tell us something?

What happened next???
Hiya, after reading your other posts, I'm intrigued by what actually happened onwards from this last post? Even if you think it could be boring, I haven't found it boring at all!

Re: What happened next???
Well, that's a good question. I've sort of repressed it from my memory...so the details are a bit fuzzy...but I can see from 'edit my travelblog entries' that there was an entry started on Muscat Oman. So I went to Muscat.

That's right. I went there to meet an old friend (from the first blog). We saw stuff, and went to the beach, and grilled food. I left after a couple of days and went back to Dubai where I distributed the research survey to Gulf Nationals. I met a friend from Michigan at the American University's pool and then nearly got kidnapped by a manipulative Pakistani (it was very traumatic). I got another fancy orange juice from the guy who took me to the Sharjah hostel. He proclaimed his love for me and wept that I was leaving the next morning. And then I left the next morning vowing never to do this again.
