Dear friends,
Our Sunday was filled with music. The organist at the 8:00 eucharist service at St. George's Cathedral filled the domed expanse with incredible music. I believe God heard us with about 300 United Methodists from Ohio singing with us.The pastor's message focused on when we reach the limit of our understanding of God's purpose, that is where faith begins.  On our walk back to the hotel we were followed by two young girls who were singing songs from their choir back home. Later this morning, Michael and I found (after several wrong turns in the Old City) the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. As we were standing near the site where Christ was crucified, three Armenian priests began a beautiful chant in harmony. It added to this awesome site of holiness as we also witnessed the piety of so many different faiths. While we were standing in line to view Christ's tomb, an organ was being played in the Franciscan area of the church. A procession of Franciscan priests then entered the tomb as the monks stood guard. I am always in awe and reverence when we come here. As we headed down one of the narrow streets in the Christian quarter we entered a small coffee shop. We were his only customers and he turned on some music and lights as we had our coffee and mint tea. Such a beautiful day.
We pray that your Sunday was meaningful and restful, too. Wherever one is, there can be a feeling of holiness and oneness with our Savior.
In Christ,  Jolene and Michael
P.S.  No pictures today - our batteries ran out!

Orlando Sunday
M&J - Cyndi told our Sunday School class about your ongoing visit and studies... and class will be praying for you till you return as we have you on the prayer list thru that time.

Pastor Uth started series on Nehamiah rebuilding Jerusalem's wall today. Pretty neat thinking you are walking on those walls daily. (although I guess strictly speaking they're different walls from different eras I believe... but close enuf to be way cool as far as we're concerned). Lord Bless,, R&C

Wow!!
What a day! I get goosebumps just reading about it. The sights alone would have been awe inspiring, but throw in the music, chanting, etc. and it certainly adds up to a glorious day!!

I must make a confession ... I'm a little envious of the kind of cool destination walking you guys are doing! A little different than the sites here in Palatine!!

Walking Where Jesus Walked
The Kindergarteners, 1st and 2nd Graders are learning about Jesus...our best Superhero yet! I showed the Kindergarten class a globe. We found where we live, and I showed them where you are. They think it is totally cool that you are walking where Jesus walked.

We learned about Jesus calling the disciples, and played the game 'Follow Jesus' (Follow the Leader). Everyone jumped at the chance to 'follow Jesus!'

Thanks for the pics and posts. I look forward to reading about your adventures.

Cindy D.
