I've arrived in the land of the kiwi's and boy is it cold here! I think the best thing to liken it to is being in England in November but without the rain! Seriously, it's cold - I've bought a scarf and gloves and am considering buying about 50 jumpers and pairs of socks just to keep warm!
Things didn't get off to a great start here as I had some more issues with my Australian visa - the x-rays I had done for the New Zealand visa weren't acceptable so I've had to get them done all over again to more costs! How x-ray's I've had done in their own freaking country can't be accepted by them is beyond me but who am I to question their anal laws?! I have to say I was very tempted to withdraw my application and forget about Australia but that would mean skipping any slight opportunity I might have of working at Australia Zoo so I didn't really wanna do that!
X-rays done and sent off and 2 days later my Australian visa got approved on Friday yey! I'm not going back for about 11 months but at least it's there when I want it! The thing still on my mind was the fact that my New Zealand visa STILL wasn't approved and with another weekend to kill I wasn't sure what to do! I went to investigate today and was, once again, told there was nothing on their system since May 18th and there was nothing they could do. I just came to check my email tonight and, low and behold, there was an email from them saying that had been approved! Yey! So, I can now look for jobs tomorrow, open a bank account and get some damn money! I have to say that while Christchurch is very pretty and actually nothing like a city at all it is a little bit boring so I'm not entirely sure I want to stay here and work... we'll see what comes up over the next few days but otherwise I'll be heading up a little to try and get some work elsewhere... I don't fancy doing the ski season in Queenstown or I would've headed there (along with all the 18 year olds who are on their break from college!).
So, I'm all sorted! Nothing too exciting to tell I'm afraid but once I start work I'll be saving for the fun stuff (swimming with dolphins - when it warms up, sky diving, white water rafting etc etc) and should have some fun pics to show! I might head up Mt Cavendish on Wednesday for a great view of the city and for something to do - that's if I can get out of bed before 11!
Hope all is well with everyone and that you're all enjoying the fact that your weather is now waaaay warmer than mine! I have to keep telling my brain that Christmas is NOT around the corner!! Take care!
