I'm so glad
Lawrence convinced us to stay an extra day. Bordeaux is such a gorgeous interesting city...with ancient history. We spent our first day travelling to an ancient fort near "Blayey" built on ruins from 600AD. The fort was constructed by a fortification expert of his time.. and I forget his name. The romans were thru this spot too on the river Garonne. On Monday the 30th Lawrence took us on a walking tour of the city and Ben bought a suit for his Prom. A Zara suit -he is very particular -but it paid off with Lawrence helping us it was almost 1/2 price and he looks wonderful in it. We enjoy coffee and hot choclate while listening to guitar player in the plaza. We enjoy sole fish the next day -purchased early AM from the fish monger on the corner...MMM! Thanks to Pia the aux pair who speaks flawless english, french and german. We have a 3hr drive back to spain and enjoy traveling thru Basque country to Bilbao. Thank god we aren't going N into France as there is miles of traffic at the border-some kind of "bomb" scare.
