Just a quick entry today, as it has been an exhausting day and its nearly happy hour! OK, maybe not so exhausting - here on Lake Atitlan life is pretty relaxing and slow. We arrived in Santa Cruz on Saturday morning after a rough drive down to Panajachel from Antigua, thank goodness for my miracle sea bands. Then onto a lancha for the 20 min boat ride to our dock, and fresh scones overlooking the lake.
The hostel has a bbq and cross dressing party every Saturday night (they provide a hut full of clothes to choose from!), so we made the most of that, and then yesterday checked out San Pedro, across the lake. Today I jumped on another lancha to San Marcos, a hippy village around the lake full of retreats, yoga, massage etc. Lovely peaceful wee place and I had possibly the best falafel I had ever had. And then its pretty much been the hammock for me.
The biggest decision right now is when and where to go next, is really quite stressful trying to make such decisions. Such a tough life! Right now am thinking of tearing myself away from the hammock on Wednesday to head to Semuc Champey - a couple of people here are going the same way so I may even have some travel buddies again.
Can't upload photos from here, but to get an idea, check out the website of the hostel.. http://www.laiguanaperdida.com/ The lake is absolutely beautiful, and I can see why so many people come for a visit, and stay their entire lives. (Don't worry, I promise I will leave eventually!)
