Today I saw my first hopping little friend!!!!
We first thought it was a kangaroo, but later found out it was a rock wallaby. We bombed past it in the car and typical poms as we are we jumped out cameras ready to get a shot.
This was on the way the magnificent Grampians North of Warnabool and about a 2 hour drive. The scenery soon turned into a landscape that resembled something I thought OZ would look like, more dry and barren.
The trees were scared from a recent fire, which must off been quite damaging because for miles around the trees had blacken bark. Through the bark green shoots had sprung and most the grass had started to re-grow.
We stopped at Halls Gap for tourist info and a dodgy hot chocolate, the milo chocolate here is disgusting!!!!
We took a steep drive up through the mountains to impressive look outs across the plains where we could the incoming rain clouds.
A short drive took us to the Mackenzie Falls, set in a beautiful location in a valley and my first Ozzie falls. we chilled there for a bit took some great snaps and headed back towards Halls Gap.
On out way out the town and back to Melbourne we found two Emu's. Now anyone old enough to remember windmill (rod hull and emu) will remember when the door rung, everyone would run around singing theres somebody at the door!!! The stupid chumps we are jumped out the car shouting theres somebody at the door.....of course this scared off the Emus!!!
Two hours in the rain, we went back to Melbourne. This was first time it had rained for months here, most Ozzies were thankful due to water restrictions and drought.
