Oh why oh why do I always insists of playing ring of fire....
Today I had a bit of a shocking hangover after arriving in Leon last night, when we arrived we walked into a hostel, Matt and Flis were there. I´d been trying to e-mail then for a couple of days, but I guess everyone goes roughly the same route.
Guess what another bus broke down on me, thats every journey in Honduras! The journey though was really cheap, one second class bus and a couple of chicken buses, these break down. Bike rides across the border was the most expensive part, 5 dollars a pop, this was a rip off as we were told it was a 3km walk.
Generally everything is dirt cheap here, the bed is 3 pounds a night, a good meal about the same and I got drunk on less than that last night.
Oh yes that brings me to ring of fire. This always ends is disaster and after meeting up with Matt and Flis we decided on a heavy night. Of course with the three Oxford boys being established rugby drinkers the drink went amazing quicker than normal, 55 mins for a large bottle of rum between 6, ouch! I also picked the last king, losing the game and drinking the fire.
Once drunk we embarked on a salsa dancing mission, Its strange the more I drink the better I get (or think I get) at salsa. This was a great night check out the shots!!!
Today we've hung out around the hostel, sobered up and I wondered around the city. I thought I would get sick of Spanish built cities, but this is just as beautiful as the rest and has brought the same fun, thinking back to San Cristobel in Mexico and Antigua in Guatamala.....
The city of course has lots of stunning cathedrals but also a recent past of revolution and interference from the Americans, the world never seems to change. Only in 1979 was the last major revolution, fought mostly in Leon and the city remember this with murals scattered across each street.
Probably a more quite night. There is no more volcano surfing for a two weeks, which is a shame, it sounded really fun. I guess we might head of the shores of Lake Nicaragua tomorrow and the city of Granada.
