Hi everyone,

Ive just arrived in the Honduran capital after another long day yesterday and an early start. I did get an express bus after the problems before, but this also broke down. Therefore its back to chicken buses tomorrow, at least they dont break down.

I am now an offical advanced diver. Athough I did have problems.

I learnt to dive at Utila dive centre and i would recommend anyone dont dive with dirk there. I had a tune up coarse in the morning and my first night dive the same evening. Before the dive i mentioned there was a problem with the tank, he said it was OK. When we desended, my dive buddy had a crap touch and we lost the group quickly. We gave it 1 minute then went back to the surface. We found him and swam over the where we was. After joining the rest of the group we carried on the dive.

After a couple of minutes I noticed the air was really low at half tank already, I signalled this to my buddy. After another 5 minutes the air was lower and after another minute I signalled low tank. We frantically shown our touches and banged on our tanks. The dive instructor was too busy looking for fish! I then had to signal no air and use my buddys second air source.

We ascended slowly, I think we were about 15 meters down at that point and needed a safety stop. At the surface it took a while to spot the boat due to bad conditions, I had to self infalte my bcd while holding onto my buddy and then we had a long swim back to the boat. All in all not a great experience and I wasnt impressed that the dive instructor didnt take time out to talk to us afterwards.

Anyway there was no problems with the rest of the dives and the other instructots were alot better.

I hook up with three lads (Richard, John and Callum) in the hostel in Tegos and on the second day in the capital we walked around the city and checked out the mall, watching Pirates of the Carribean. The honudran girls took a shining to us, we got attention in most of the shops and I even got asked out in TGI“s by the waitress!!!!

Off to Nicaragua tomorrow to try and go volcano surfing, sounds fun....
