I woke at about 5:30am for my train about 7:30am I had a taxi booked but went to the wrong station, apparently the Finland train does not leave from the Finland station. Luckily or unluckily I found a taxi I gave him 50 euros to take me to the right train station. A rip off but I'm glad I got there. The train was horrible I wish I had got a bus. The room was cramp and the guards kept waking me up for my ticket, I was pleased to see the Finish border guards enter the train and the remaining part of the journey was a lot smoother. I arrived in Helsinki tired and pissed off with my journey, should of got a bus. I put on the backpack read the English news at a paper stand and started my walk to the hostel. It took me 30mins to walk to the Olympic stadium where the hostel was. The hostel was extremely clean, however the rooms where shut between certain hours. I did get a shower though and put my bag in storage. I took a wonder back down to the city centre a brought a big bowl of pasta. I couldn't finish it though as I was not use to eating such a meal. I walked down the clean street and new trams, very different from the East European trams. I had a walk down to the Uspenski Cathedral near the dock and the Kauppatori market. I then wondered around the dock and back to Senaatintori square and Tumiokirkko (The Lutheran church). This is probably the highlight of the city, however inside is not that impressive but at night the white and green cathedral is light up the cathedral from the outside is very impressive. I'd seen most the sites in a couple of hours so went to a pub to watch the cricket. I had a great time here watching England beat the aussie, however the beer was expensive. The next day I took a trip to Suomenlinna Island on the trip I meet three Australian girls on the way. Again I wasn't too impressed with the sites; it was a former military island with small ruins. From here I got a ferry back and wandered around Kaivopusto Park and walked up to Kanslismuseo - the national museum. Here I learnt the brief history of the country and walked back to the hostel. That night I went back to the same pub, sinked some beers and watched the football.
