October 18

We drove about 2 and half hours to Michie's Tavern in Charlottesville, Virginia. We also got to see a former Hongwanji Mission School student named Sheridan and her parents who moved to North Carolina.  We ate lunch at the tavern. They served chicken, pork and beans, mashed potatoes, corn bread, biscuits, stewed tomatoes, and dessert.  Everyone loved the chicken. Some people ate the equivalent of 3 whole chickens. I (Tanner) loved the food they served especially the Pork and Beans.

We had a tour of the Tavern.  We got to learn how to dance like they did in colonial times. We also saw kitchen appliances like the corn peeler. We learned how to play some of the games. Tanner was smoking the pipe but don't tell his mom. We saw other buildings like the kitchen, the necessary, the well, smokehouse, and the gift shop.

ono chicken
I really enjoy following your trip through the blog. Your faces are so happy! I'm glad you got to experience the famous Michie Tavern chicken. It was my favorite. Ask Mr. Washington how much chicken I ate.
I'm looking forward to your return to school so I can hear all your stories.
Keep safe and take notes. There's so much to take in and learn so it's good to write it down.

Ms. Cha
