Western Sahara

Much of the journey through Western Sahara involved long driving days, in which the scenery changed from rocky semi-arid desert, to sand dunes to sandy flat plains. Many of the bush camps were hampered by strong sandy winds, and camel meat was tried for the first time (a little stronger flavour than beef, and very chewy). The best part of every day was just after erecting the tent, with plastic mug of cheap wine in hand, admiring the sunset over the golden landscape - the best day was when we camped beside some crescent shaped dunes which provided a pre-dinner climbing activity and beautiful photo opportunity.

Almacén de Ciudades on

En la madrugada del 5 de diciembre mi avión aterrizaba en un aeropuerto perdido del desierto argelino, entre la arena que volaba y oscuridad absoluta. Iba a un lugar que desconocía, no sabía mi destino exacto. El único dato fehaciente era que viajaba rumbo a unos campamentos de refugiados saharauis enclavados en medio del Sahara...
