It's been a LONG couple of weeks with many good byes, tears and laughs.  This morning as I woke up, I had yet to pack one item or prepare my car for the long haul to Steamboat Springs, Colorado.  Nonetheless, it all was done and I am about to get some zzzzz's before I head out in the a.m.

My plan is to wake up, put on some sweats and meet my dear friend Michele at a local bagel shop before I shoot up 75 North towards my first destination - St. Louis.  Now, if you know me, you know that I am NOT a morning person and 5 a.m. will not be the easiest for me.  There is no doubt that I will not be the happiest camper when I see her.  Bless her heart.  We'll see how it goes...

Tonight was capped perfectly with a phone call from my Mother demanding that I get plenty of sleep, to call her while on the road and to say she loved me.  Sleeping in in the a.m. is a family trait, so I do not guess I'll call her till mid-afternoon (smile).  In addition, my Dad called from Dubai a couple of minutes ago to tell me to drive safe and that he loved me.  I certainly feel the support of my friends and family as I start along this path.  Thank you!  I want to write more about that, but I believe I'll do that the next few days as I head out to Colorado.

Till then, here's to life's journey!

Giddy up,

Heather

Congratulations Heather! You did it! You are on your way to a new adventure. I am so jealous. But I have a 1/2 marathon to do first - then maybe west. Have a wonderful and safe journey. I will be praying for you. Thanks for including me on your site. Blessings! Liz

Heather, the GCUA gang misses you already. It's great to see that you got the travel journal up and going. Love the first entry. I told you you're a great writer! Can't wait to read more as your adventure unfolds. Take lots of pix (wearing your cool cowgirl hat, of course :)

Heather...you are living my dream right now! On my list of things to do before I die is to go west and meet a real cowboy. When you get your roping skills mastered, think you could rope me a nice old cowboy and bring him back to me? Thanks for including me in your journal and allowing me to live vicariously through you. What an awesome adventure. I will keep you in my prayers as you travel and ... show all
