Well, I stepped out of the airport with Phil and Alban at about 1:30 the two days ago, and the sweltering heat and humidity just about knocked me over. The other guys didn't really notice it, so I figure I'll get used to it, too. We took a cab back to Phil's apartment and Phil went back to teach his class (he had kindly skipped part of it to come and get me). After Alban and I had settled my stuff into place, we joined Phil down the block, and around the corner, to play some card games with his six friendly students.
After playing more games in Phil's room, we grabbed some cash and bought food from a street cafe. The food was excellent and cost like $1.50, and it filled me clear up. I though that was a good deal. We spent the rest of the evening in town, and watched Indiana Jones.
Friday morning, we had a cooking class scheduled. It took us a motorcycle taxi, the sky train, and a cab to get there. The motorcycle taxi was my favorite part. We just hopped onto the back of these very small motorcycles and cruised around at faster speeds than what I was truly comfortable with.
The food class was great! We joined a couple of other tourists--a girl from France, and a girl from Chile--and started by shopping the streets for vegetables. We then went back and stood at three different woks and fried up 12 different Thai dishes for about three hours. We were so full after eating our wonderfully prepared foods. That has, so far, been the most fun part of the trip for me.
Man, I am tall here.
