We stopped for a night in Hanmer Springs on our way back up to Nelson. We enjoyed ourselves in the hot springs and then decided to give the steam room a go. We sat in the nice hot steam and then got out and plunged into the ice cold plunge pool. At least I did. Mum just looked at me as if I was insane. The first couple of times I jumped into the pool I almost had to agree with her, it was freezing. But after a few times I actually started to enjoy it and felt fantastic when I finally emerged. The fantastic feeling wasn't to last though as the excesses of the previous evening eventually caught up with me and I was fast asleep in bed by 9pm.
Sunday morning we got up and enjoyed a scnenic drive to Nelson via the Nelson Lakes. It was good to get home. Tom also arrived back in Nelson on Sunday night, so it was a bit of a mini reunion. It rained on Monday so we decided to go to the WOW (world of wearableart) and classic car museum. We spent a couple of hours marvelling at all the weird and wonderful works of wearable art that were displayed around the museum. We watched a video of an old show where mum managed to fall asleep.
On Tuesday we headed out to the Abel Tasman and went for a short walk along the coast. The sun managed to come out for us which was a nice change (I think a first for mum).
Mum has now headed off to the Marlborough sounds for a wilderness experience in the park where I worked. Me, I'm off on another adventure...
