Mum arrived at about 2am this morning and was up again at about 8am. I was pretty tired but she seemed full of energy. We went for a walk into town to pick up some leaflets from the Information Centre and then we headed out to Akaroa, a small french influenced town about 80km from Christchurch. It was a lovely drive out over the Canterbury Plains before we headed up over some snow covered hills. As we came over the top of the hill we could see Akaroa way down in the distance. It was a beautiful day, a bit windy, but lovely and sunny. We wandered around Akaroa for a while and then stopped for a bit of lunch before heading back to Christchurch. Once we arrived back in Christchurch I realised I had left my camera in the restaurant in Akaroa. To say I was a bit annoyed is putting in mildly. A 3 hour 180km round trip later I was back in Christchurch with my camera. Had a quick dinner and then headed to bed as I was exhausted. I've got lots of piccies but no ISB port here so I will add the photos over the next few days.
