Greetings again from Phnom Penh. I read a book just before I came to Cambodia called Öff the Rails in Phnom Penh - guns, girls & ganja. It gave an interesting insight into the expat life style in Phnom Penh. I was slightly nervous about coming to Cambodia to begin with and after reading this book I had some doubts, but everyone I've spoken to has said Cambodia is quite safe. There are no laws as such in Cambodia and everyone carries guns -I've only seen 1 person carrying a gun so far. So anyway, Phnom Penh is pretty much just like any other SE Asian city.
Last night we didn't quite make it to the Heart of Darkness nightclub, which is apparently THE place to go in Phnom Penh. We did get to the nightclub we just didn't quite make it in. We decided to go to a bar next door for a few drinks before going to the nightclub, however a few drinks ended up being a lot of drinks and they were playing cheesy eighties music so we ended up staying there all night - we were the only ones on the dancefloor all night!! It's maybe just as well we didn't make it to the nightclub as a girl we met in Vietnam had been in the club when there was a shooting - luckily no one was killed!
Friday 3rd October Slept late this morning. Had lunch at the Lazy Gecko Cafe before heading to Phnom Penh waterpark. What an excellent way to spend a hungover day! There were slides and pools and a huge big water bed! Didn't do much else. Off to Siam Reap tomorrow to see Angkor Wat - some of the most beautiful temples in the world.
