I'm back in Irkustk now. I'm just waiting to catch my train this evening to Ulan Ude. It's a short journey this time, only 12 hours and overnight so it shouldn't be too bad. Last night Chris and I went to a Russian nightclub, seeing as we missed the one in Ekaterinburg. Stratosphere was an interesting experience. The first thing you see when you walk in the door is half a dozen bouncers, dressed in camouflage, wearing bullet proof vests and carrying batons, just a bit scary. It was only 1 pound fifty to get in and that included a free beer. The music was not that great and the nightclub appeared to be full of school children. We later found out it was full of school children. It was their last day of school and they were allowed in to celebrate! It cost 1 pound eighty for a double vodka and a bottle of Corona, not bad. Unfortunately the Russians don't seem to have grasped the concept of drinking vodka from a large glass. The first 3 I had were all in shot glasses before the barman understood what I was asking for. When the club closed we ended up chatting to a young russian couple who took us to another nightclub called The Titanic. It wasn't that great so we headed home at about 5.30am. It was a good night!
