We took a flight on Tuesday morning for a couple of nights away. We booked a little boutique hotel right under the Charles Bridge in the centre of Prague which turned out to be a perfect position for exploring the city (and a lovely large room - sheer luxury after the camper!). Prague is a beautiful city and very easily accessible on foot. The most enjoyable thing to do is wander through the lovely cobbled streets, alleys and over the Charles Bridge enjoying the galleries, little stalls, market area and the stunning buildings
The day we arrived New Zealand was playing Slovakia (Czech Republic's neighbour) in the world cup so we found a bar to watch the game. Later in the day we found a massive stage set up in the square with beer stalls, BBQ stations and a great atmosphere. We wished that we had found it earlier as it would have been the perfect place to watch the All Whites!
We were fascinated with the massive cathedral and castle which both dominate the skyline. The gold and sivler ornaments and amazing windows in the cathedral were quite unbelievable!
We loved looking in all the galleries at the huge selection of local art (and just wished it was easier to get large artworks home!). The souvenier shops were so colourful with marionettes in all sizes, colourful crockery and glassware and the other usual junk!
One of the highlights was going to a string quartet concert (Czech and Classical) in a church in the old city. It was absolutely amazing! The musicians were incredibly talented and we were quite mesmorised by the music they made together!
It was great to return home to Paris greeted by Riva, Retine, Mum and our lovely girls!
