Although we have been almost a week already in Buenos Aires here's a few quick words about Colonia del Sacramento, where we spent our last day in Uruguay.

Colonia is the oldest city of Uruguay and is renowned for its historic center which is a World Heritage Site.

Uruguay showed us so many different sides and Colonia was another surprise. The heat after being in the cold, the wind, the thunderstorms. The utter peace and quiet roaming about the cobble-stones. The tasty cafe food. The night-time magical look of the streets lit by the huge moon and the little colourful street-lamps. Finally trying the medio-medio (light and very refreshing sparkling wine famous in Uruguay) and the meat parilla (grill), which would have been enough for 4 people and included all sorts of body parts including intestines (no not testicles Ania! :) ).

All in all a lovely well-needed rest after a long journey.

We were quite sad to leave Uruguay, but with Buenos Aires ahead it was much easier! :)
