Hey everyone!
Our first full day here in Juneau was great one ( and a little rainy ).  We started the day by doing just a little hike on Douglas Island to the Outer Point.

We started the hike on some planking in a creepy forest- typical of most of our hikes- then ended up on a beach to some beautiful views!
We were able to see Mendehall Glacier and some of the mountains.  However because of the Juneau weather the clouds were low and covered most of the scenery up.
The tide was low which produced a small walkway over some stepping stones to a little island.  We could hear bald eagle cries all around us.  The entire island was covered in small shale rocks and sea shells.  Everywhere we walked there was crunching beneath our feet.  Just before we headed back we could hear two eagle cries right near us.  We looked up and saw two bald eagles talking to another away in the distance.  Then it took off and flew away right above our heads.  It was so amazing.

Well we headed back off the island hoping our path would be subject to low tide and not high tide or we would be stuck on this little sea shell island.  We were happy to find that our path had more than tripled in size as it was low tide and we didn't have to wade in water this time.  So we headed back to Amy's for lunch and spotted a field of fireweed

and then started another little hike, this time to Nugget Falls next to Mendehall Glacier.
This hike was not too strenuous as it started at the visitor center of Mendehall Glacier where there were lots of Cruise Tourists.  The center must have built a path along the beach to get to the falls as Brian said 4 years ago he had to bush whack to get to the falls.  Either way, we was a nice walk and redeemed itself just before the falls as we had to climb over a rocky landslide to reach the edge of the falls- something I don't think the tourists were expecting.

We managed to climb over to the beach and see this magnificent water fall in person- and no we didn't photo shop our pictures in front of it despite how it looks  =] .

We had a great day and even found the trail head to our big two day hike we will take on Sunday.
It was an early night for us- asleep by 6pm Alaska time.  Today we are off to climb Perseverance Trail and Granite Creek Trail to the old gold mining camp.
Blog ya later!
