SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM FOR THE DAILY REPORT IN BYRON BAY!
I just lost all my material! I had a nice long message for you but it dissapeared!
Here is the short version.
Byron Bay is the best so far!
I'm in a happy hippie place.
I will start writing more regularly, but i have to go hit some waves. I've spent all morning getting groceries and internet cause it was rainy. But now it's clearing up!
I'll bring some cool stories tomorrow...hopefully.
H of HI
Friday here thursday there
H of HI: I'm gonna stay with the same entry until we leave this cool place. That being said, i'm still not gonna talk about it yet. But my story for the day is about something that that ties this place with Fiji and New Zealand. I forgot to tell you my favorite story from Fiji! It's about hippie chicks and cannibalism. John from Club Masa told me this one.
A hippie chick was staying at Club Masa and was talking his ear off about Christianity. Most Fijians are Christains. (Thomas Baker was the first person to bring Christianity to Fiji. Because he touched one of the chiefs head, a blessing in Christian ceremonies, a very rude move in Fijian culture, he was eaten. But eventually cannibalism fell to the way side and enough missionaries kept coming and converted them all.) Anyways, she was a wholistic, non faith type, and was razzin him a bit about how Christianity is not all what he thinks it is, and there are other ways to believe, yadda yadda ydda. John is a very polite and laid back man, like most Fijians, but after a while he was growing tired of her ramblings. They were sitting down for dinner and she brought up the subject againand he said, "Excuse me mam, but if it wasn't for Christianity, do you know what we'd be having for dinner tonight?" She said no, and he leaned in close and with a big grin said "YOU!"
Sweet huh?
Saturday!
It's HEATH again. When you all get alerts, it will always say from Ingrid, cause she set it up. but all of this commentary is from my head. I'm H of HI. she's I of HI to help keep from confusing.
That being said, we're having a big day today. Tomorrow's post should be quite interesting. The place we're staying was built in the 70's by a bunch of hippies! We've been staying in a canvas tent/yurt type thing is a swampy jungle area with big lizards and shit. We forgot to renew for today, so we had to move out of our abode and were trying to decide what we should do, and a gal from Washington that we met last night, offered to move into a tent with her cousins and give us her tent for the night! That's what it's like in Hippieland babey!
Something Phil & Nate woulda dug: the first night here we did a walk around the perimeter of the building and a guy showed us about 20 different plnats, trees, etc. that could supply us food, medicine, shelter, fire, bug reppelent, rope, etc. The two most dangerous things, not spiders and snakes, but a hairy catapillar and the penis fruit.
Ciao for now!
Sunday
Hof HI: What a day. Simply put, we rode in WORLD NAKED BIKE RIDE DAY! What a trip. Lots of body paint. We took the Perrypalooza bike ride to another level! Then we were invited over to the organizers place for a naked BBQ. Definitely a first. We'll get some pics up soetime, but i'm sure it'll be pretty easy to find online, cause i'm sure hundreds of people took photos & vids. Finally on YouTube, woohoo!!!!
I need a nap.
Monday
H: Pretty chill day yesterday. Saw a movie in the cool cinema at the Art Factory. Not as cool as the one in Wanaka, South Island, NZ but nice set up. The first four rows are cow patterned futon matresses on the floor with a 30 degree incline for your upper body, so it's like watching a movie in bed. They have holders between the love-seat width futons for drinks and stuff.
Be sure to respond if you have questions and check responses to your responses. I'm trying to blog at least something everyday, so if you want more detail just ask and i'll respond so everyone can read about it.
Cheers to Chris and Devon, the first ones to come visit, besides Ingrid's mum. See ya in Malaysia u twos!!!
Tuesday/Wednesday
H: It's me again. We were away in Nimbin yesterday, so no blog then. Nimbin is a crazy tiny hippytown in the hills, where everyone goes to buy pot/hash/shrooms etc. We were going to stay the night, but it was too over-the-top for us. I did finally feel what it's like to be high though. We ate some hashcake that the lady said was twice as strong as anybody elses. I've tried it before, but never felt anything. I did this time. Now imagine me, even slower and more laid back... It was annoying even for me!!! I definitely know what people mean when they say they feel "stupid high". We couldn't complete thoughts or sentences. It would of been ok, but we were traveling back from Nimbin with 3 gals and the one that frove was as wacked as we were and the two that didn't participate drove but had no idea how to get back. It took A WHILE. Then we had planned to stay in Nimbin, so we didn't have a place. No 4 hours later, still high as a kite, we could hardly comunicate to get set up for camping. Luckily a new friend that works there, Duncan, lent us a tent, but while we were setting it up in the dark stoned out of our minds, a down pour started. We were so flustered and "stupid", we couldn't figure out how to putt the thing together. It seemed impossible! Meanwhile, it is totally drenched inside and out, so we give up on it, and see what other options of stay are available. Because the only thing available are two dorm beds in separate rooms, the hooked us up with the reading room with matresses on the floor. Life saviours! I don't think I'll be partaking of that stuff again...SHEEZ!
Wow Saturday already!
We are back in Sydney now with Ingrid's mom & her relatives here. Very friendly and it's so nice to be in a big comfortable bed with little noise around.
Reflections on Byron:
I could live here. It encomasses most of the things that i love in live. It's a bit of hepy heaven! We're (more me) trying to go back for a music festival over Easter weekend. It is like Bonaroo in the States, a crapload of awesome bands. We're trying to sign up to volunteer, so we can work then go to the festival for free. Check out the website: Byron Bay Blues & Roots Festival.
I know some of the last entries have been a bit out there, but I'm trying to stay open to experiencing everything that is not harmful to myself or others. Ingrid's been a good sport about my free flowing experiences, but probably would prefer me to not include her in on some of the blogs and experiences for that matter. That being said, I think this is the most important time in my life to be open to the world. As I have explained in earlier emails, I have plenty of fear-based, self-protection barriers I am trying to overcome, and doing some of these kind of "out there" experiences are really helpful with my progress. It's actually best to try some of those things later in life when you've lived enough to fully anayze and evaluate each experioence properly.
Anyways. I'll keep the interesting blogs coming!
Sweet as!

Hehe! That was a good one Ing. So I guess we can say all religions have at least one good thing going for them then huh?
Re: What's for Dinner?
Yeeeah...that was Heath. When you get messages that we Bogged, they always say from Ingrid, but they're from either of us.
These are a few of my dangerous things....
Did someone say penis fruit? Sign me up!
Naked BBQ?
I'm proud to say I'm friends with folks that can make the South Park Music Fest look like child's play.
wahaa!?
You mean you two aren't finishing each others sentences yet? I figured you would have mind melded by now so there wouldn't be any need for distinction! :P
P.S. Naked people are fun!
now the stories are coming !! yeay :)
naked hippy fests and shroomys.....sweet
Re: now the stories are coming !! yeay :)
