Flying to Munich on a buddy pass was a gamble  because it was all on stand by.  If the plane filled up, I would be shit out of luck...  To get to Munich ( in time for Jake's wedding)  I flew stand by to Chicago and then again to Munich.   If it worked out, It would only cost 220 dollars...if it didn't then I would be stuck buying a last minute ticket for top dollar.  Getting to Chicago was easy (50 bucks) but from there I only had 2 flights over 2 days that I could catch..... if they all were full I was screwed.  The first flight filled up with tons of people dressed in Ledierhosen with beer in hand.  The next flight was not for a full 24 hours later.   I knew this was the risk but spending 24 hours in an airport was going to suck!

Thanks to Facebook, I got online and looked up friends by city!  It turned out I had a couple!  I called a buddy (Jon) who I use to work with in Florida, explained by situation and 2 hours later I was couch surfing!  Lucky!  I knew the chances of me catching the flight the next day were pretty slim and after checking out last minute rates I had to stomach the fact that I would be paying 700 bones.  The next day the flight was full again so I decided to stay until Monday so I could check out Chicago.  I drank the local grog, I ate deep dish, I watched Da Bears in a Chicago Pub and went for runs along the lake.  All thanks to my buddy Jon!

I also was able to catch up with a friend from Jordan Pond (Aubrey)   We met one sunny day and she showed me the sites of downtown Chicago.  That city is freaking sweet!  In honor of my departure to Germany we even hit an Oktoberfest on the Navy Pier before heading to Haufbrau house.  Downtown Chicago was great but my camera died and all the pictures I took were super mediocre!

My accidental stop turned out to be a pretty sweet gamble!
