Isle Ometempa is  famous in Nicaragua for being an island on the biggest fresh water lake in central America this is made of two volcanoes joined together by a sand bar.  The post cards of this place look amazing because of the two giant volcanoes jutting out from the lake.  However, it rained the whole time and we never really did see them in all their glory.  It was such a shame.
Most people that come here climb the volcanoes.  I was tempted but since the top was covered in clouds  and I figured it would not be worth it.   The lake is also famous for having fresh water bull sharks.  I guess these bull sharks swam into the lake from the Caribbean side and have adjusted to the fresh water.  Its a scary thought that even in a lake you can be eaten alive by a massive shark.  There were areas on the lake that locals told us not to swim because of sharks.
Since it rained most of the time here, we ended up going for little swims and staying dry..... Nicaragua was becoming very boring!
