Honduras does not really have alot to see unlike its neighbors Gautamala and Nicaragua. There are basically two main sites in Honduras...... The Copan ruins and the Bay Islands.... Since the ruins are basically on the way to the Bay Islands, Tim, Sarah and I decided to give them a go. I was the least excited since I have seen my fair share of ruins already. This unwillingness was compounded by the a 15 U.S dollar entry fee. This is simply massive considering that all the other ruins I were no more than 5 bucks....(plus I'm a backpacker..) After a team meeting, Tim, Sarah and I decided to hike one of the nature trails that goes cloes by the perimeter of the ruins. Once we were far enough away from the main gate, Tim decided to bushwack through the jungle to see if we could find a "cheaper way in". I have to admit I was not really supportive since all the guards had massive automatic weapons and would not be to happy to see 3 rich (relative to them) white kids jumping the fence to the only famous ruins in their poor country.... I was thinking they would be furious and throw the book at us... Well Tims plans went off with out a hitch. He bushwhacked right up to the fence that had 3 layers of barb wire on top and somehow unthreaded the chain link fence and we simply climbed/crawled right in. It was great! The ruins were great, which you can see from the pictures and best of all it was free!
