Getting to Borcay turned out to be a brutal affair. It took us 4 hours just to go 120 kilometers in a jeepney. After this we had to switch to a van which then took 3 hours to the port. Upon arrival we were told that the ferry did not leave for 4 more hours. So we ended up doing nothing until it was time to board. When we tried to get our tickets we were told that the ferry was broken and that the next ferry would take off in 6 more hours....So stuck again in a port town of nothingness. We decided to join the locals in a packed karaoke bar and pass the time by singing with everyone. Asians love slow, love songs so Dave and I decided to mix it up by throwing in some songs that actually had a beat. Needless to say in a port that barely ever sees a white person we drew a crowd every time were up to sing. Dave had the place jumpin with "Ice Ice Baby" which he does not even need to look at the words for. The boat finally left at 10pm for our 6 hour journey to the island of Panay where we wandered around at 3.00 in the morning trying to find a place that we could sleep
We spent our time here playing more volleyball, ultimate frisbee (which the whole island knew how to play and were way better than us) and soaking up more skin cancer. It was during one of these games of ultimate that I cracked my head on some guy's elbow jumping for the frisbee. The hit itself did not hurt but I had so much blood pouring out of my head that I simply froze. I kept trying to catch it in my hands because it was gushing out. I was taken to the doctor and I got my head sewn up. I think it might have been the doctor's second stitch job ever because Dave said she was all over the place with the stitches. Check out the pictures. Hopefully my travel insurance will cover it! Once again at this beach we built up a small gang of friends and ran into people we knew all over the Island. This slower pace of traveling is a new thing to me because in smaller communities like islands, you get to see the same people over and over. It was nice to walk down the beach and chat with people you had met the night before. The Phillippino people are always very friendly and quick to invite you for a drink or dinner. We had a great time here and were sad to leave.

. The next morning we caught a boat to Boracay. This island is supposed to have some of the best beaches in the world. Personally I think if a beach does not have surf it can't be in the running. This beach was beautiful with white, powdery sand and crystal blue water. It was still a school holiday so the place was also hopping with people. We found a smoking good deal for accommodation despite the fact that this island is known for being an expensive place. We spent our time here playing more volleyball, ultimate frisbee (which the whole island knew how to play and were way better than us) and soaking up more skin cancer.
