We had to go back through KB to get South as it's a transport hub. We left our bags at a hostel and they let us use the showers for a price. We caught a night bus that left us at our destination at 4.30am which isn't fun when you don't know where to go and you still have valium in you. At the bus station we saw a little boy wearing an Osama Bin Laden T'shirt with a picture of our favourite terrorist and his guns. Lovely! I wanted to take a photo, but feared getting blown up! Our bus was older and a good temperature, but we met a girl the next day who got frozen out on her bus and couldn't sleep. We eventually found the port, but had to wait several hours for our boat so we tried to sleep on the rows of hard orange chairs. The boat ride was insane and lots of passengers were squealing as we were thrown around. We arrived on ABC Beach in time to get a nice room and go on a snorkelling trip. The weather was bad, but there were other couples ready to snorkel too. Visibility was crap and water rough, but we saw some pretty fish. Later we decided we would not dive as vis was too bad and a lot of the coral is ruined and beaches polluted. 10 years ago Tioman Island was a huge drawcard, but I think the govn didn't know how to handle the influx of tourists and the Island was almost ruined. We spent the next day hiking 14kms, walking most of the way on a cement path through the jungle. It was so hot that when rain started to trickle through the canopy we enjoyed it. The rest of the day it stormed and we ducked out to take photos of the huge Lace Monitors and a big fat snake.
