So after a wonderful time in Buenos Aires we took a ferry across the river to the port town of Colonia in Uruguay. The weather was so sunny and beautiful so naturally I sat outside the whole 3 hour ride and it was glorious with the sun in my face and the wind in my hair (yes cheesy but I loved it). Upon arrival I fell in love with the town. It is sooooooo adorable with colonial buildings, old fashioned lamposts and cobbled streets lined with cafes. On my first day there I did a bit of exploring but got rained out unfortunately but the second day was absolutely lovely. After breakfast I explored the old center, I canīt strees enough how absolutely gorgeous this place is. It was originally founded by the Portuguese so they could smuggle goods from Buenos Aires. I saw the Puerta del Campo, which is the original city gate and drawbridge and also the Iglesia Maritz, which is the oldest church in Uruguay. I loved everytime I came around a corner and discovered an even cuter cobblestoned street lined with beautiful buildings, and walking along the water. If I ever come back to Urugauy this is a must go.
