So Puerto Varas, is a little port town on Lake Llanquihue (further south in the lake district) with quite a bit of German influence. Such a cute little town, but unfortunately I was only here fro one day and woke up to pouring rain:( While this did deter me from heading to the Chiloe islands (no boats went out that day any ways because of the choppy water), it didnīt discourage me from exploring the town (in my raincoat of couse). I spent some time at the waterfront which I imagine would be quite lovely on a sunny day but I must admit that standing on the pier over the water in the blustery grey weather watching the waves roll in did have its own appeal. I also wandered to the coolest looking Catholic church Iīve seen, it was built by German Jesuits in 1918 and is a copy of the Marieenkirche in the Black Forest. I also loved the interior I think because it wasnīt as ornate as most of the churches Iīve seen. It was just a simple wooden interior with some great paintings of the stations. Afterwards I found the greatest empanada of my life!!! Canīt wait for Argentina!
