Where I stayed
Econo Lodge Maingate Resort - Hawaian
Adam & Michael flew on American Airlines via Chicago & Nick, Nath & I flew on United on frequent flyer miles. We met up at Orlando airport & caught taxi to our accommodation at Kissimmee. It was on the West Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, The room slept the 5 of us comfortably & was really well priced( $299 for 6 days) & included free shuttle bus to & from the parks each day. It was always a short walk to lots of cheap cain restaurants & a great donut shop that we used for breakfast each morning!!! There was a pool that the boys enjoyed using in the evenings.
I had pre-bought a 4 day Hopper Pass for $186 for adults & $150 for a child.
We set off to Epcot ready to be there as it opened at 9am & to stay until it closed at 9pm. Fantastic park with much to see & do..... like getting a taste of different countries. There were streets & areas for each country with buskers, entertainment, food & buildings typical to that country. We went to China, Italy, Morocco, Norway, Germany, Canada, France. The entertainment in each country was outstanding, especially the acrobatic troupe from China that had girls aged from 8 - 14 years.
Night time as amazing with the show that you could see from most of the park called Illuminations 2000 Reflections. Th sky erupted into light & fire. This 360 degrees spectacular incorporates colourful lasers, brilliant fireworks, fiery torches, stirring music & the brilliant Tapestry of Nations Parade street parade.there were 20 foot puppets dancing down the street& it was a brilliant show.
Bus back home to bed ,ready for another exciting day tomorrow!
MGM Studios -This had lots of rides & there is a great system called Fast Pass, where you go & get a ticket for a particular ride & it has a time on it to be back tree in the next couple of hours, where you don't get in the regular line, but go to the top of he fast pass line. Its all about timing & hoping it works out with other rides & how far away you are in the park but it always worked really well & save lots of time from standing in the lines
Nathan was so brave & came on the Tower of Terror even though he doesn't like lifts & this was a dropping lift. He was amazing as we plunged down a 13 story elevator shaft.
The Rock N Roll coaster in the dark at 60 mph was social & my first roller coster ride. I kept my eyes closed the first time I did it but Adam convinced me to keep them open the next time around!!
At night there was the Nightime Fantasmic water spectacle with lasers - 6,900 seat amphitheatre. As we were leaving the park with thousands of others people a big group of 20 girls from Argentine decided they liked the look of Adam & were asking him if he had a girlfriend etc. They followed us & sang songs about him as we left the park & then later as we were waiting for our bus they saw him again & started calling out & ran over like he was a someone famous!! Very funny & I'm sure Adam loved it!
Magic Kingdom - Again lots of rides & fun to be had. Favourites of the day were Space Mountain & Splash Mountain. Michael scared us all when he had a moment & took off & we had no idea where he was for the rest of the day!!! I was thinking I would hopefully find him at the exit gate at the end of the day, but we did bump into him a few hours later thank goodness!! Again there were great show & parades - the 3pm Disney Magical Moment Parade & the 6pm Main Street Electrical Parade
Animal Kingdom- This was another great day more similar to Epcot but still had rides. We loved the Kilamanjaro Safari in open sided vehicles across 110 acres there were wild animals.
Loved the Kali River Rapid ride where we got a bit wet!
Today I had organised to hire a car for 2 days from Alamo for $80 that was delivered to our hotel. Adam sat in the front & was my guide as we tried to navigate the many freeways that led out of town, After a few wrong turns we eventually found our way out of town & went to Canaveral National Seashore which was beautiful undeveloped seashore north of he Kennedy Space Centre. We swam & played on he vetch & found lots of great shells. Felt like we were back in Australia!
We drove by Daytona & Cocoa Beach & went to Ron Jon's surf shop which is the largest surf shop in the world. We ended up spending many hours & lots of money getting body boards & surf gear ready for our move back to Oz next year. On to the airport in Orlando to fly home ..... Adam & Michael flew on American via Dallas & again we all met up in Denver & were picked up by Brad. It was such a fantastic time away !!!
