Tuesday we has another change of plan and instead of flying to Kisumu, we found ourselves on a flight to Mombasa, then a 2 1/2 hour taxi ride across a ferry to some random resort that has beach villas. We are literally right on the beach and has a cute little thatched roof and everything
So mum and I spend a few days getting annoyed at each other because we kept finding half eaten bananas everywhere, I kept saying it obviously wasn't me because I don't eat babanas (they give me night mares) and mum was saying she wouldnt be that messy, turns out there where monkeys getting in through the roof and eating our bananas haha what a surprise that was!!
We spend a few days snorkeling, getting massages, being waxed, walking on the beach and eating fresh sea food, it was basically perfect! and such a relaxing surprise turn of events to our trip. Mum even got offered a 'sugar daddy' as I choose to call it (a guy who promised to take VERY GOOD care of her while her husband was away).
Today we went on a dolphin cruise we where supposed to be swimming with dolphins but turns out we couldn't find any even though our tour company promised a 95% success rate. Instead we went out to the worlds second largest reef and mum snorkelled while I went on a number of scuba dives. My instructor was a guy named Juan who decided we are in love and had to get married. So we "got married" on the bottom of the ocean with his scuba instructor friend conducting the service. Mum didn't really believe us but it was pretty fun and a bit of a joke/laugh for us. He then nicknamed me his baby mumma and declared we would have striped babies that he promised would weigh less than my scuba tank. We had lunch on an island and had a traditional Kenyan meal; chapati with seaweed, coconut rice and an entire fish finished off with an array of fresh fruit and a fruit cocktail. It was a beautiful and perfect day.
Now I am just enjoying our last night in Mombassa as we really have to head to Kisumu tomorrow and I am currently sitting on the beach listening to the waves as I write this (I even have my own security guard sitting about 2 metres away to "give me privacy").
I am very excited for Kisumu and to see my friends, family, village (Odede) and sponsor child Brighton who is now 5 years old :)
Much Love xo
