After a very early start we get picked up and taken to our bus for the 6 hour journey to Siem Reap. Once we arrive the bus driver asks us if we have a place to stay and as we don't he finds a tuk tuk driver to take us into the main part of the town to a hotel. We ask the tuk tuk driver to drop us off at a different guest house and we arrange for him to pick us up in the morning to take us to see the Temples. The rest of the day is spent wandering around the markets in Siem Reap and trying not to spend too much money!
The next morning we're picked up by our tuk tuk driver who takes us to Angkor Wat which is amazing. It's the world's largest religious building and the different levels and towers along with the carvings over the walls looks really beautiful. We're then taken to The Bayon which has hundreds of faces carved into the stone that makes up the templeand it's being slowly restored. Unfortunately this is the time that both our cameras choose to die! Next we're taken to The Baphuan which is being rebuilt after nearly all of it collapsed, and the elephant terrace a huge terrace with Elephants carved all the way along the wall.
After lunch in one of the stalls that are set up near the Elephant Terrace we go to Ta Keo a small pyramid temple which we climb up a little too quickly and I feel my knee go! I let Liv continue climbing up to the top before making my way very slowly back down! The last stop is Ta Prohm which was used to film Tomb Raider and is by far my favourite Temple of the day! The walls are slowly being taken over by the forest that's surrounding it and it looks fantastic with tree roots climbing over the walls. Our tuk tuk driver took us back into town and the evening was again spent wandering around the various markets in Siem Reap.
The next day we decided not to go and visit more temples as we thought one day would be enough. Instead we spent the day relaxing in Siem Reap. We spent a couple of hours relaxing in a butterfly garden, bought a few more things from the market and caught up with e-mails etc. and the next morning we got the bus back to Phnom Penh.
