Itīs been a week we are at las cataratas (Iguazu falls). itīs the longest waterfalls in the world, 2.7km. By comparison, Victoria falls (in Africa) have the largest curtain of water and Angels falls (Venezuela) are the highest waterfall... the falls are the border between Argentina and Brazil. We spent one day on the Brazilian side where it was really busy and pouring down with rain (after all itīs in the middle of a rainforest...). It gives a good view of all the waterfalls. Because of the rain the level of water was quite high and we got even more wet from the waterfall mist than from the rain... and of course we were camping under the rain... the good thing about the campsite is that we saw a lot of animals and even managed to see a toucan (must be of the family of the puffins??? ;-)) in the tree just next to the tent. So good memories now even if at the time I was gutted to have my feet wet (my shoes are still drying... but today it is sunny so it should be ok).

Then we went on the Argentinian side which has more trails and where we managed to see some sun. This side is closer to the waterfalls and because it has more trails we spent two days there. The best times of the day were on the morning and on the end of the afternoon when the paths were not crowded with tourists. We spent long hours watching all the water crashing down these cliffs, quite an impressive force of the nature!!! Due to the high level of water, we couldnīt go on the small island in the middle. The amount of mist from the water crashing on the bottom of the cliffs made nice rainbows. On this side we saw quite a lot of animals: coatis, monkeys, an armadillo, agoutis, small rodents, birds and butterflies...

Tonight we are heading to the east, trying to soak up some sun from the beach...
